Jewels

Amethyst,
Emeralds, Rubies, Sapphires and Topaz

Precious
Stones that gleam in the night skies

The
smell of the salty ocean fills the constricted entrance to the cave beneath

The
sound of the waves rushing to the shore like music to an islander’s ears

A
place solemn and forgotten, doomed by time for no foot could settle upon

Aside
from the light the stars from the heavens provides, only the intense radiance from
the deepest shades of dark purple, green, red, blue and pale gray illuminate
the depressing island.

Voracity
had cursed this land, men and women stranded here died trying to nourish their
bottomless hunger

Like
an lash wounding the skin, these ornaments worse like that, inflicts the soul
and devours the senses

Once
a bountiful and blissful soil that was drowned to ashes by the footprints that ravaged
the undisturbed locality

Darkness
then consumed that place; the jewels soon lost its glow and worth, while the
stars had exhausted its light

Oh
regret, a disappointment it was.
